Step By Step Recipe For Chicken Xacuti
Ingredients:
1.5 kg chicken, cut into pieces
2 teaspoons Kashmiri chilli powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 tablespoons oil
2 onions, sliced
2 teaspoons grated coconut
1 tablespoon tamarind paste
2 teaspoons jaggery
2 green chillies, slit
1 sprig curry leaves
1 cup water
To Grind:
4 cloves garlic
1 inch ginger
2 teaspoons poppy seeds
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
2 cardamom
2 cloves
1 teaspoon peppercorns
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
2 teaspoons grated coconut
Instructions:
1. Marinate the chicken with Kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt and ginger-garlic paste.
2. Heat oil in a pan and fry onions till golden brown.
3. Add the chicken pieces and fry for 5 minutes.
4. Add the tamarind paste, jaggery, green chillies, curry leaves and water.
5. Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
6. Grind all the ingredients under “To Grind” to a fine paste.
7. Add this paste to the chicken and cook for 5 minutes.
8. Serve hot with rice or roti.
