This is a step by step recipe for chocolate fudge cake.

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup well-shaken buttermilk

For the fudge frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

3 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar

Instructions:

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter the sides of 3 9-inch round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.

2) Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

3) In the bowl of your electric mixer, beat the butter on medium speed until creamy. Add the sugar and eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract.
